Beirut, 5 July 2019 (United Nations Information Centre in Beirut) – Under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Culture Mohamed Daoud, and in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC Beirut) and Baakline Municipality, the Association of World of Art and Heritage is launching an art exhibition entitled “The Sustainable Development Goals: from Contemporary Art’s Perspective,” on Friday 12 July 2019 at 5 PM at Baakline Art Gallery – (Beit Baakline, El Shouf).
The opening ceremony will feature statements by a representative of the Minister of Culture, President of the Syndicate of Professional Artists in Lebanon, Nizar Daher, and President of the Association of World of Art and Heritage, Randa Taqieddine. Winners of the three best artworks selected under four categories revolving around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will also be announced. The categories are: Women empowerment, youth’s role, peace and security and climate change and environment. Sixteen professional artists will also be honored during the ceremony for their artistic work.
Around 110 artists, whose work will be displayed in the event, will take part in the event, in addition to representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), government officials, social activists, experts in the art field and other dignitaries.
The exhibition will run daily from 12 July until 20 August 2019, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is also held in collaboration with the Syndicate of Professional Artists in Lebanon, the Lebanese Artists Association for Painters and Sculptors, and Baakline Art Gallery.
