Beirut, 19 June 2019 (United Nations Information Centre in Beirut) – Under the patronage and in the presence of H.E. Minister of Culture Mohamed Daoud, the International Center of Human Rights (CISH) is launching, in collaboration with UNESCO regional office in Beirut and the United Nations Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC Beirut), CISH’s activities in a special ceremony to be held on Thursday 20 June at 6 PM at CISH premises in Byblos, old city entrance.
The ceremony will feature speeches by H.E. Minister of Culture Mohamed Daoud, the Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office for Education in the Arab States Hamed Al Hammami, and CISH Director Darina Saliba Abi Chedid. The ceremony will be an opportunity to announce the Memorandum of Understanding signed between CISH and the Lebanese American University (LAU), and will reflect on the momentous changes that have been introduced to CISH in line with Byblos civilizations and the scientific and technological developments sweeping the world. The event will also include a documentary about CISH work and its programmed cultural and scientific activities. It will conclude with a cocktail party on this occasion.
CISH is a hub where scientists, researchers and scholars meet to exchange knowledge and expertise in the fields of social and human sciences. It also constitutes a platform for implementing cultural and educational activities, as well as organizing international forums and workshops. CISH also adheres to progressively adopt an eco-friendly framework for its facilities and support activities that promote sustainable development and raise environmental awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
