UN names new special coordinator for Lebanon

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Wednesday announced the appointment of a new special coordinator for Lebanon, a statement from the United Nations said.

Guterres has named Slovakia national Jan Kubis, who most recently served as head of the U.N. Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) from 2015 to 2018, having held the same position in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2015.
