Every year on World Arabic Language Day (18 December), UNESCO organizes its visiting journalists program. This year, the Organization will invite 12 journalists from the Arab region and Arabic speaking countries to its Headquarters in Paris (France) to raise awareness about UNESCO's mandate, activities and programs. Through this program, UNESCO also aims at establishing close relationships with media professionals reporting in Arabic.
This 3-day workshop is an opportunity for program participants to organize meetings with UNESCO experts who work in their fields of interest within the Organization's mandate, and to attend World Arabic Language Day celebrations.
This year, we propose a workshop from 17 to 19 December 2018. Arabic Language Day celebrations will take place on 18 December around the theme "Arabic language and youth", and will feature events around Arabic language and identity, Arabic language and social media, Arabic language and the arts.
We are focusing this year on media professionals who work with alternative media and/or social media in Arabic, including journalists/bloggers/influencers, and encourage women and young professionals to apply.
If you are interested, please fill-in the application form below and send it to Zaina Dufour, email@example.com before 20 October 2018. An internal jury will evaluate your application. We will contact selected participants by the end of October at the latest.
This program has been made possible thanks to the generous contribution of Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Foundation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
