In collaboration with the UN Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC Beirut), “Message de Paix” Association is organizing a seminar on the occasion of International Day of Disabled Persons, in partnership with the Lebanese School of Social Work at Saint Joseph University, and “Beyond” for Reform and Development. The seminar is scheduled on Thursday 6 December, at 4:00 PM, at Le Royal Hotel, Dbayeh.
Entitled “Labor and Mental Disabilities: Approaches and Policies for a Humane and Equitable Economy”, the seminar aims at sharing experiences to come up with recommendations to catalyze initiatives and make suitable policies. It will include an intervention by Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Pierre Bou Assi on “Legislative framework for an inclusive and catalyst environment”.
It will also feature opening statements by the Association’s Youth Group, and by Hector Hajjar, the Association’s President Director General, entitled “The Problem of people with Mental Disabilities, between opportunities and reality”. It will include as well interventions by Angela Zettler, Associate Social Affairs Officer at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Lebanon’s commitment to foster integration”; Rima Moawad, Director of the Lebanese School of Social Work at Saint Joseph University, on “An educational social approach for empowerment”; and Fadi Gemayel, President of Lebanese Industrialists Association, on “Elements and opportunities for an alternative, equitable and integrative economy”. The seminar will be followed by the inauguration of “Message de Paix” Annual Christmas Exhibition, and a cocktail reception.
